ABOUT COUNTRY ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS (CAMI)
CAMI formerly Mental Aid Ghana is non governmental organization made up of multi disciplined professionals who have come together with one common goal of promoting good mental health in Ghana and beyond and by so doing helping change the lives of these people so they can live productively in the society as normal and respected individuals. Areas of operation include; advocacy and lobbying, support and collaboration, mental health service delivery, training, education, research in mental health, child and old age psychiatry.

WHY CAMI/Parallel Integration Partnership
The leadership of the two organizations having worked collaboratively in the past to help volunteers with clinical work placement and effectively guiding them medically during their periods of stay informed the collaborative launch of a dynamic change partnership programme that is aimed at supporting and promoting mental health in the country.

‘ MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE DELIVERY FIELD PLACEMENT AND OUTREACH PROJECT’

PROJECT DETAILS
This project comprises of the:
1. Mental health service field placement
2. Outreach program

Mental Health Service field placement

This phase of the project involves placement of volunteers at various psychiatric units and clinics in different parts of Ghana, within the four regions we operate for weeks depending on the length of stay. During this period volunteers will assist and be part of the psychiatric units team and will take part of all activities carried out at the unit including; home visits, case search, attending to cases, health education and talks etc.
OUTREACH PROGRAM
This follows the period of field placement and involves
• Mental health and medical outreach services

MENTAL HEALTH AND MEDICAL OUTREACH SERVICES
This will involve series of public health trips (including all volunteers across all the placement sites) to prayer camps, traditional healing sites, ‘witch’ camps as tagged; that deal with mentally ill people and provision of medical and mental health services and counseling for them, support for them in terms of food, water, shelter and advocating and lobbying for the rights of the mentally ill to be respected as humans.

COST FOR THIS PROJECT: ( This include cost for your outreach trips, supports for patience), and the following: 1.Preparations and arrangements prior to arrival
2.Transfers to and from airport
3. All your food and accommodation through out your stay.
4. Orientation through the town
5. Evenings out and about
6. Giving back to community day
7. Staff supports for daily monitoring and emergencies

2 weeks =1285 Dollars

4 weeks = 1870 Dollars
